    New York Attachment Consortium

To enhance our impact, the Center sponsored the formation of the New York Attachment Consortium. Founders of this were Morris Eagle of Adelphi University, Everett Waters of Stony Brook University, and Gary Cox-Steiner of the Center for Mental Health Promotion. This was established to facilitate communication and collaboration among metropolitan area developmental and clinical psychologists and psychiatrists working to advance attachment theory and research.  An important consortium activity has been the mentoring of graduate students. This has included individual as well as group meetings with students from several graduate institutions with the founders and members of the consortium. More formal training workshops with various faculty and students have also been conducted and has been an effective means to enhance research efforts in this area. In addition, conferences have been organized to focus on attachment topics as well as its interface with psychoanalytic theory and practice.
